Ryan Biddulph never expected to become a full-time blogger.
Ten years ago, he was grinding out 18 hour days as a security guard at the loading docks in central New Jersey.
A dream job? Not quite.
But it kept the lights on … until Ryan’s company decided to downsize and he was fired.
Ryan wasn’t exactly an Internet-wiz at the time. He says, “I knew how to check my email and ESPN.com — that’s it!”
But he knew he didn’t want to spend the rest of his life working for someone else.
So Ryan invested $500 of borrowed money into a domain name and hosting package and tried to figure out how to become a full-time blogger.
It was hard-going at first.
Frustrated, freaked out, and with financial responsibilities breathing down his neck, Ryan nearly gave up before he even got started.
But his then-girlfriend (now wife) assured him he could make it work if he didn’t quit.
She was right.
From New Jersey Security Guard
To Island-Hopping Full-Time Blogger
Ryan’s early success as a full-time blogger was from a making money online blog. But his heart wasn’t really in it.
And one evening, beneath the infinite stars of the of the night sky of Savusavu, Fiji, Ryan determined to stop blogging for a buck and start writing about what truly makes his heart happy.
That’s when BloggingFromParadise was born.
Since then, Ryan has retired to a life of island hopping through smart blogging.
He’s been featured in Forbes, ProBlogger, BloggingTips, Neil Patel, and other authority sites across the Internet.
